July 2014 Nail Art Recap

Hi lovelies! While I wasn't blogging much, I continued to do my nails but just got too busy to blog about them. So here's a recap of the nails I've done in July after my last blog post. I don't remember which polishes I used on these nails, so the pictures are all I've got.

Neons and Nudes

Hi lovelies! I'm sorry I haven't been able to post lately. I've been so busy and we didn't have internet at home for a couple of days. But I'm back now! Today, I have for you a simple gradient, but definitely not boring. I've always loved nude and neon combinations. Especially the ones done with Orly Glowstick. Unfortunately I didn't own Glowstick yet when I made this mani but this cheap $1 polish definitely did not disappoint. Although this polish was already good, I couldn't pass up buying Glowstick for $3.50-$4.50. I forgot how much it was exactly. LOL but yea! I hope you guys like this one.

Jumping on the bandwagon

I've been seeing lots and lots of pictures of China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle and Highlight of my Summer on Instagram and I've always wanted them. Today, I was finally able to get them and I'm so glad that I did. I've read that the application for both weren't so great but for the brightness of these polishes, I wouldn't mind 3-4 coats of these.

Now I don't remember exactly how many coats I used, but I don't think that I went over 3-4 coats. So it's not so bad, in my opinion. Especially for how amazing they look. I just love these so much!

Anyways, this is such a random manicure that was inspired by numerous things. Also, I decided to change my nail shape. I figured I needed to try something new and thought oval nails would be awesome! Especially when my nails grow, and I thought it would be easier to maintain long nails when they're this shape. Let's see how long I can last with oval nails. (I'm a square / squoval kind of girl).

On my index finger is OPI Tiffany Case, topped with approximately 4 coats of OPI I Can Teal You Like Me.

Spring Into Pastel

Hi there! I tried to remake mrcandiipants' fern design on my ring and middle fingers but it just wasn't working out so I had to think of something else. I've always been a fan of lavender and mint grind or any sort of mellow light shaded green, and when choosing a color to go along with my base color, I figured why not give it a try. I think I could've done better with the alternating chevron design, but I think this is good for a first try.

I have this habit of almost always topping off a gradient design with glitter top coat because it's so simple, and yet makes the gradient pop. I hope you like it!

Para Para Paradise

I've always seen sunset / palm tree nails online but I've never tried them on my own. And now I can finally say that I have! After watching different tutorials on Instagram and YouTube, I've decided to give it a try and I can say that it's really not that hard! I've done gradient nails using the sponge method several times now and I always use a white base in order to allow the sponged colors to pop. But whenever I clean the cuticle area to get rid of the excess color, the white base always tends to show. So for this mani, I decided to use one of the gradient colors as a base. Although it looked better after the clean up, I noticed it was harder to sponge the gradient onto my nails because the orange-y shade didn't show very well. I had to use 2 different shades of orange polish to get the color that I wanted, and I thought that was a bit of a waste of polish. But it turned out pretty good, so I shouldn't complain. LOL
