July 2014 Nail Art Recap

Hi lovelies! While I wasn't blogging much, I continued to do my nails but just got too busy to blog about them. So here's a recap of the nails I've done in July after my last blog post. I don't remember which polishes I used on these nails, so the pictures are all I've got.

Salt + Watercolor Nails

Hi lovelies! A couple of days ago I saw a tutorial on how to do salt + watercolor nails on Instagram by Spektorsnails. Right when I saw it I knew I needed to try it out but didn't know what design to do with them. It wasn't until Sunday when I was at church that I got the idea (thank you Lord! haha). So when I got home from church I started drawing out the design and how the koi fish were going to look. I then realized that koi fish are a little hard to draw but I think I got it, the next problem was painting them on my nails, especially on my Cinderella hand. But I think mine aren't so bad.

Anyway, click here to watch her tutorial on YouTube. I followed that tutorial but made a couple tweaks. On her video she used a mixture of coarse and fine salt, and I used just plain rock salt. Also, instead of waiting for it to dry completely and wash it off, I decided to remove the salt with the use of pointed tweezers. But as for everything else, I followed the tutorial step by step.

I think I'm in love with how my nails look even though it's getting harder and harder to type because they're so long now. Haha. I think it took me between 3-4 hours to finish this, so I hope you like them as much as I do!

Here are the nails before the koi fish....

Rifle Paper Co Inspired

Hi ladies! I've been looking for inspiration everywhere and last night I found this beautiful floral picture on Pinterest that looked like something Lindsey of Wondrously Polished would do. I think when it comes to florals, she might just be my biggest inspiration / most favorite. So when I saw the picture I knew I had to paint it on my nails. It wasn't until I posted the picture and somebody commented on it that I found out that it was actually a Rifle Paper Co. journal and that there's a bunch of other floral print journals. That only means one thing - more inspiration! Haha. I can't wait to paint them on my nails!

This was so much fun to do, even though it did take me a while to finish these. I love the fact that because they're 'wild' flowers, it doesn't exactly have to be perfect. Then again, that probably goes with a lot of floral manis. And because I'm totally in love with the mattified (Is that even a word?) floral nails, I had to do the same with these. Anyways, I hope you enjoy these nails as much as I enjoyed making them. I'm so excited to paint more florals!

Ooopsie.... Daisy did it again!

Hi lovelies! Here's a remake of the daisy nails I did before. I love the color combination! Not sure if I like them as much as my first try. But this seems more summery. I actually did this on my sis-in-law before I left for vacation but it was a little hard because she only had one brush it was an old one that I gave her a long time ago. I hope to do a better job the next time I paint her nails!

Anyways, I hope you enjoy these!

In Honor of the Original Pacific Blue

Hi Lovelies! In case you didn't know, Sally Hansen changed the formula on their Xtreme Wear polishes and so people have started stocking up on their fave polishes. The most popular one that people have been talking about is the Pacific Blue. I've never owned it, at least not until last weekend (while I was on vacation). I'm so glad that I got my hands on this polish because it's just so amazing! I love the shade of blue and the formula is just perfect! I hope I find more of these, or that SH changes the formula to the old one.

So today I have for you the very first mani I've done with this bottle. I hope you like them!

Ooopsie daisy...

Hi lovelies! Last night I tried to do daisy nails for the very first time (if I'm not mistaken) and I love how they looked! First, I topped it off with Seche Vite. But wanted to see how it'll look matte and I can't be more glad that I did! Matte floral nails just have an effect on me. I'm not sure what it is but I just love them! So enough of this, I hope you like them!

To matte or not to matte, that is the question

I've always been a fan of Lindsey of Wondrously Polished. Her designs are always flawless, and just plain beautiful. When I first found her blog, I was amazed. Her floral manicures (well, all her manicures actually) are just to die for. I thought to myself, if I could just make my nails look half as beautiful as hers, I would be so proud of myself. So I went through her blog and found a design that wasn't too complicated for me, but has something I've never done before. I chose to try and remake her primary colors rose nail art that can be found here. Although I've done rose nail designs in the past, I thought this was different simply because of the white dots that I like to think are an abstract form of baby's breath. I loved the way it turned out after I put 2 coats of Seche Vite to get a smooth texture. But since her seemed to look matte, I decided to make mine matte as well.

Speaking of matte top coats, I got myself a bottle of Essie Matte About You maybe a year or two ago. And I liked it but after some time, it became thick and just hard to use and so I figured I should just get a new matte top coat. I've been reading different blogs trying to see which one is the best, but yesterday I was at Target and I saw that they had a few bottles of the NYC Matte me Crazy top coat. I was scared that the finish wouldn't be the kind of matte that I like, but to my surprise it's exactly what I was looking for! And for the price of $2.04 (+tax), I think it's a great steal! It dries quickly and is very smooth to touch. In less than 15 minutes after applying one coat, I found myself wearing gloves and washing the dishes. I'm not sure how long the matte finish will last but as of right now, I am totally in love with this polish. I hope it lasts at least a week. But I'll be happy if it even lasts for 4 days. LOL
